Quick release pin

Quick Release or Pip Ball Pins as they are also commonly known.

Allow the user to quickly locate, align and fasten two applications. Once the fastening pin is inserted into the application, the Location Pin cannot be removed until the user depresses a button on the top of the T Handle or Recessed Grip. Once the button is depressed this releases two balls at the base of the pin allowing the user to insert and remove from the hole freely.

Available in metric and imperial (inch) sizes these hand operated fasteners can be used to quickly remove equipment from military vehicles, aircraft and helicopters as well a high performance cars and marine applications such as yachts.

Ball lock pins, also known as detent pins or quick-release pins, are mechanical fasteners designed for quick and easy assembly and disassembly of components. These pins consist of a shank with a spring-loaded ball mechanism that engages with detent holes or slots on the mating parts. The ball lock mechanism provides a secure and reliable connection while allowing for rapid release without the need for tools.

Quick release pin 1

Key features of ball lock pins include:

1. Quick Release: The primary advantage of ball lock pins is their ability to be quickly and easily released without the use of tools. This makes them ideal for applications where frequent assembly and disassembly are required.

2.Secure Locking: When the ball on the pin engages with a detent hole or slot on the mating part, it creates a secure and reliable connection. This ensures that the components stay firmly in place during use.

3.Versatility: Ball lock pins come in various sizes and configurations to accommodate different applications. They may have different handle styles, shank lengths, and materials to suit specific requirements.

4.Durability: These pins are typically made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, or other materials with excellent strength and corrosion resistance. This ensures durability and long-lasting performance.

5.Applications: Ball lock pins find applications in various industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and machinery. They are commonly used for fixtures, jigs, and other applications where fast and secure connections are needed.

6.Handle Styles: Ball lock pins often feature different handle styles for ease of use. Common handle styles include T-handle, L-handle, and button handle, each providing a different grip for the user.

7.Sizes and Configurations: Ball lock pins are available in a range of sizes and configurations to suit different load capacities and specific application requirements. Users can choose the appropriate pin based on factors such as diameter, shank length, and overall design.

These pins are valuable in situations where efficiency and speed in assembly and disassembly are crucial. They contribute to time savings and increased productivity in various industrial and manufacturing settings.

What is the quick lock pin? What are the applications scope?

HKAA Factory Custom CNC Machining Precision Quick Release Pins, Machine lock pins are a type of fastener and hardware used to align objects or materials together available in semi-permanent and quick-release forms. The former requires special tools or extra pressure for assembly and disassembly. Quick-release pins have a spring-loaded mechanism that locks these pins in place, making insertion and removal easy. Pins can be made of stainless steel, copper, brass, wood, plastic, and more. Whether you are looking for lightweight, malleable, conductive aluminum pins, affordable plastic pins, or industrial pins made of other materials, CNC machining services provided by HKAA can deliver you the exact desired product.

Types of Quick Release Pins

T-Handle Locking Quick-Release Pins:

For a more secure hold than standard quick-release pins, these pins lock in place until you press the button, which releases the spring-retained ball. T-handles make them easy to grip.  Pins are made of 17-4 PH stainless steel for certain corrosion tolerance and passivated for better protection against oxidation and corrosion. Breaking strength is measured as the double shear, that is, the force required to split a pin into three pieces.

Quick release pin 4

Knob-Grip Locking Quick-Release Pins

The smaller width and extra height make the button more accessible in tight spaces. Made completely of stainless steel, they can bear corrosive environments.

Quick release pin 5

Recessed-Button Locking Quick-Release Pins:

The recessed button keeps the pin from accidentally falling off. These all-stainless steel pins are also known as M-Type Marine Pins. withstand corrosive environments and are passivated for better protection against oxidation and corrosion.

Quick release pin 6

L-Handle Locking Quick-Release Pins:

When there's not enough room for a T-handle, the L-handle saves space but still makes these pins easy to grip. Pins are made of 17-4 PH stainless steel for added corrosion tolerance. Pins are made of 17-4 PH stainless steel for certain corrosion tolerance and passivated for better protection against oxidation and corrosion.

Quick release pin 7

Heavy Duty T&L Handle Pins:

These all-stainless steel pins are also known as ground handling pins with super corrosion resistance. A T-or L-handle makes them easy to grip. For a more secure hold than standard quick-release pins, they lock in place until you press the button to release the spring-retained ball. Our T&L handle locking quick-release pins with super corrosion resistance meet or exceed NASM 23460 specifications and may be ordered with 4 locking balls for additional locking element tensile strength.

Quick release pin 8

Double Acting Ring Handle Pins:

These pins are activated when you pull the ring or push the button to release the spring-retained ball. The smooth ring handle won't catch on parts.

Quick release pin 9

Application Scope:

Quick Release Pins are used in applications where a positive stop is desired. The shoulder prevents the pin from being inserted all the way to the handle. Pins will not release until the button is pushed, causing the balls at the end of the pin to retract for insertion and removal of the pin.

1. Industrial/manufacturing: Textile machinery tooling fixture, forming equipment conveyor system, shot blasting processing equipment, various mold lifting equipment, mining equipment, car car tools, scaffolding, trailer, folding bicycles, etc.

2. Aerospace/Military Workers: Sliding sliding equipment, aircraft engine maintenance equipment, aircraft landing frame, air -controlling door/cabin, field quickly bridge the field to build submarines, precision instruments are quickly locked.

3. Medical equipment: wheelchairs, medical equipment, etc.

4. Entertainment industry: suspension system for stage audio lighting, suspension skaters (triangular hanging wing) mountaineering equipment, fitness equipment hot, balloon car (hood steering wheel) entertainment vehicle, etc.

5. Ships: sailboat rigging, tugboat rudder, speedboat cover, other ship rigging.

Performance characteristics of quick lock pins:

1. Automatic anti loosening, pressing the button on the handle can retract the spring at the head of the pin body, and at this time, the quick pull pin can be threaded through the pin hole;

2. When the button is released, the spring pops out and the quick pull pin cannot be pulled out of the pin hole;

3. High precision, with strict tolerance requirements for pin diameter and clamping length;

4. The scope of application covers a wide range, and stainless steel and high-strength alloy steel materials can be selected according to the usage environment;

5.According to the space condition of the handle, various types of handles such as L-shaped, T-shaped, Button shaped, Ring shaped, etc. can be selected.

Ball lock pins(Quick Release Pins) according to aviation standards (MS 17984 - 17987 / NAS 1333, NAS 1334, NAS 1335, NAS 1336, NAS 1337, NAS 1338, NAS 1339, NAS 1340, NAS 1341, NAS 1342, NAS 1343) are self-locking, single acting pins. The balls are unlocked without tools by means of a press button. Often ball lock pins are are also called locking pin, safety pin or quick release pin. They can be used as fixing, locking, connecting, adjusting or for a quick change of positions. Ball lock pins are used in Ground Support (GSE) or in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). Ball locking pins are used, for example, as gear pin or steering bypass pin for pushback.

Ball lock pins are extremely resistant to shearing, corrosion resistant and thus optimally protected against wear

All ball lock pins are tested according to NAS 1332.
